As a gamer, should I turn off my pc/laptop every night or leave it on 24/7?

I notice that at least with my laptop it will run a bit slower when playing games if it's been on for extended periods of time (over 24 hours). I also heard that turning your computer off and on can damage the hardware? Anyone have any proof of this or is that just speculation? As a gamer, should I turn off my pc/laptop every night or leave it on 24/7?The "fact" that turning your computer on and off repeatedly will damage hardware is like saying every time a plane takes off you'll need to replace the engine more frequently.

It will "damage" your parts, but it won't make an impact, and you won't feel the impact. Chances are, something will fail prematurely due to a manufacturing condition or your own doing before this damage amounts to anything.

If you're worried about your power bill, turn it off.

If you leave it on for extended periods of time, memory leaks can develop, so restarting ever so often wouldn't be too bad of an idea.As a gamer, should I turn off my pc/laptop every night or leave it on 24/7?Either way for many years has made difference I've heard of. Since I now only have notebook computers that are perfectly quiet for the last 10 years, they stay on 24/7. Computers in server rooms are on all of the time too.As a gamer, should I turn off my pc/laptop every night or leave it on 24/7?Why do you leave it on 24/7?You will have to pay a lot more in your power bill. And I think turning off and on will release the memories that are used and thus improve the performance of game play.
