I have xbox 360 and obviously have my profile and a "substantial" gamer score. For Christmas I got Xbox Live?

Will the gamer score I've accumulated with simple xbox 360 be transferred over to the new xbox live account? If so how?I have xbox 360 and obviously have my profile and a "substantial" gamer score.
